Collecting Allan Houser
Allan Houser has been a significant figure in American Art since the 1930’s. His work is collected around the world. Allan Houser is one of the best and widely known American artists of the 20th Century. His work is included in the permanent collections of over 70 museums across the United States, Europe and the Far East. His working career spanned six decades, and his influence still resounds in American modern sculpture.
Of the 450 different bronze editions he created in his lifetime, over 80% of the total castings have been sold out, with record prices being obtained in the secondary market. Even more rare and prized by collectors are his unique works in stone, steel, and wood – many of which are in permanent museum collections.
Limited edition bronzes originally purchased in the 1980’s have recorded as much as 1000 % appreciation, and since the Artist’s passing in 1994 there have been steady increases in values of works ranging from $ 5,000 to $ 200,000.
The estate of Allan Houser retains a small but very important inventory of the artist’s work. Already having obtained the highest level of visibility in the United States, the artist’s family is using a portion of this limited inventory to create exhibits and further build its collector-base in Europe and other new markets.
