Tour the Compound
| Resting atop the juniper covered hills between the villages of Cerrillos and Galisteo, the Allan Houser Compound is situated 25 minutes south of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Now encompassing nearly 110 acres, the Compound began to evolve in 1976 when Allan and his son, Phillip Haozous, acquired 50 acres of open land in southern Santa Fe County. With a vision to create a family compound, Phillip and Allan collaborated on the design and construction of a series of studios and residences, then sculpture gardens, dance grounds, and amphitheaters. The sculpture gardens were first created in 1985 following the construction of the Visitor's Center, and have evolved into approximately 10 acres of trails which display 85 outdoor works. The gardens present the permanent family collection, works from the sales inventory, and abstract works from the last 20 years of Allan's career.
